After placing my order I anxiously awaited by book’s arrival, checking my mailbox with extra enthusiasm. The day came when my package had finally arrived. Much to my chagrin, I was sent the wrong book! I was not a happy man. I went to my computer and mailed off a letter to both Amazon and the book seller and then I placed a call to Amazon as well. It was hard to find the phone contact info on the website but with some frustrating effort I finally found what I was looking for. With the growing irritation I was feeling, I was not expecting the phone call to go well either. Surprisingly, the customer service person was quick to apologize and said that they would send the correct book out immediately and that I could keep the book that had been erroneously sent my way. That evening I also received responses to my emails from both Amazon and the book seller with the same apologies and plan of correction. It made all the difference in my decision to continue shopping at Amazon. The events that could have turned away a customer inadvertently made a more loyal customer out of me.

I promptly received the correct book a few days later and I enjoyed my first sitting with my new book. I have to say, it has turned out to be everything I had hoped for in a book that details how to prepare, plant, and manage a garden. It certainly is worthy of it’s name “The Vegetable Gardener’s Bible.” It is by far one of the more complete presentations for gardening that I have looked at and is one I would definitely recommend to others, novice or expert!

I will not regret I bought this book. Other people already said all the good things about this book. All I can add is that Mr. Smith uses photos of his own vegetable garden in his book. It really makes a book different and adds a personality to it. You can really see how he does it.

I also really like the structure of the book and vegetable description.

Just like reading the bible is a good foundation to learn of Christianity, so is this bible a good foundation to learn about vegetable gardening. I find the title ironic, because God commanded us to dress and keep the garden, and the book’s name is very applicable to that command.

Go agrarian, it’s good for your soul.

I was very disappointed in this book, its like he took all the info from 20 other books and compiled it, as all he talks about is what every other book has already stated.

Had this hooked up to a 70watt panel which has a max output of 4 amps. Most of the time it only kicks out about 3 amps. Was checking output the other day and noticed a soft spot on the plastic housing. I don’t think this can be used for anything but the Lame Coleman panels. Wouldn’t recommend this to ANYONE!

This book is one that I regret spending money on……it gave brief descriptions of things you could do like raise chickens. This thin paperback book is very light reading….it is not a how to manual. Don’t waste your money on this one.

While its true that this book does not go into intimate detail on the specific how-to's of every way to go "off grid" it does provide a blueprint for the types of things that you can do in ANY living situation from an apartment to a small farm, to get off-grid.

I bought this book because I wanted to understand what types of things it would take to go off grid, and to know the things that we could potentially do to become more self-sufficient. I am planning to buy books on individual subjects later for further detail, but I don't think I could have made our self-sufficiency plan without this book!

The book is colorful, easy to navigate, and well planned. It is my go-to guide when planning our future homestead. Rating: 5 / 5
